LITERACY

Daily reading from classic and modern literature develops listening and critical thinking skills.  Dramatic play based on classroom literature stimulates auditory memory and comprehension. Board games and large-motor activities reinforce letter recognition and phonemic awareness.

MATH AND SCIENCE

Natural sciences and math are woven into our students' day through cooking, hands-on experiments, and observations of nature. Activities targeting specific math skills form units that introduce graphing, measuring, and patterning.

MUSIC

Songs and fingerplay reinforce math and literacy skills, teach the calendar and seasons, and afford opportunities to practice rhyming, alliteration and sequencing. Students also learn classic songs that reveal much about history and traditions. Dancing and parachute activities are important components of our music program.

ART

Process-oriented projects give our students daily opportunity to exercise creativity using a variety of materials. Theme-based crafts as well as easel painting, creating structures with blocks and household materials, sculpting with play-dough and clay improve fine-motor control and motor-planning skills.

Our students' paintings are featured in the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library during the month of February each year.
